This virtual lab is part of a research initiative about teaching effectiveness. As of December 2024, all games are free for everyone. Please register to play all the games. However, please remember to leave a review.
2. What if I need help with a game?
Please use the 'Contact Us' page (choose Game = Name of the Game; Category = Ask for Hints) to send us a note if you need any clarification or game hints. We will respond as soon as possible.
3. Will Gamelytics teach data analytics?
Not directly. However, it will expose you to simulated real-life situations where you must make data-driven business decisions. The games will teach you to apply the data analytics concepts you already know or are learning. It will also motivate you to learn new ideas, tools, and data analytics techniques.
4. How do I play the games?
All games come with detailed instructions and the background of the problem. Please read them before starting to play so that you are clear about the context and the goal.
5. How do I know if I did well in a game?
Share your approach and score using the 'Contact Us' page (choose Game = Name of the Game; Category = Share a New Score). We will give you feedback about your performance.
6. How can I access the generated data from the games for analysis?
Each game allows you to download the data in CSV format after every iteration of the game. You can use them for your analysis.
7. What is the best approach to achieving a good score in a game?
Here is our advice: (1) play the game a few times; (2) download the data each time; (3) consolidate all data into a single file; (4) apply various data analytics tools and techniques to find insights and patterns from the data; (5) convert the insights into strategy; and (6) play the game again with your strategy to see how much you improved.
